“Banks actively embrace FinTech to serve clients with new products and services, and it’s great to see how fresh competition helps us keep our focus.

If Europe really wants to play a role in FinTech globally we need to create room for innovative financial services in a flourishing Digital Single Market.”

The digital transformation of the economy is a key issue for Europe and banks are making big steps and heavy investments in ensuring a secure digital transformation of financial services, shaping new business processes and delivering on clients’ expectations.

The EBF and our members engage in extensive efforts for secure digital innovation in banking. We support a ‘same activities, same risks, same rules, same supervision’ approach for both banking and non-banking actors, thereby allowing banks to fully deploy their digital potential.

This includes active contribution in the debate for a data-driven economy, supporting cloud adoption in banks to ease their digital transformation and use of big data, seizing the opportunities of AI in the banking sector, and actions to increase cyber resilience, as security and trust are the foundation of the digital economy.
