JOINT STATEMENT
EBF Joins Call for Temporary Pause on Pay Transparency Directive Transposition
Brussels, 5 June 2026 – With the transposition deadline for the EU Pay Transparency Directive rapidly approaching on 7 June 2026, only three Member States are expected to meet that deadline, leaving the vast majority of EU countries unlikely to have the necessary national legislation in place in time.
In response to this situation, EBF has joined fellow European business associations in a joint statement, calling for the introduction of a temporary stop-the-clock mechanism, which would allow Member States additional time to complete the transposition process in a thorough and legally sound manner.
The low rate of transposition readiness reflects the significant complexity involved in translating the Directive’s requirements into national law. A temporary pause would help ensure that when national measures do enter into force, they are properly prepared and consistently applied across the EU.
