EBF Joins European Employers’ Joint Statement on Psychosocial Risks in the Workplace
Brussels, 12 June 2026 – The European Banking Federation (EBF), together with other European employers’ and business organisations, reaffirms its commitment to promoting mental health and well-being at work as a cornerstone of safe and productive working environments across Europe.
In this context, EBF has joined a joint statement expressing concerns about the legislative annex of the INL report “2026/2023 – Psychosocial risks, stress and mental health at work”, whose provisions are considered overly prescriptive and disproportionate.
While fully recognising the importance of addressing mental health at work, the signatory organisations stress that any policy response must remain practical, proportionate and adaptable to the diverse realities of workplaces across the EU. The existing European regulatory framework is considered fit for purpose to address psychosocial risks.
The organisations therefore call on Members of the European Parliament to reject the legislative annex and oppose further binding legislation in this field, supporting instead a non-legislative approach that removes the most problematic provisions and avoids unnecessary administrative burden and legal uncertainty for employers.
