Joint letter on upcoming EDPB stakeholder event on anonymisation and pseudonymisation
Brussels, 19 November 2025 – The European Banking Federation (EBF) has co-signed, together with 15 European associations spanning technology, telecommunications, automotive, finance, insurance and media, a joint letter to the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) ahead of its upcoming stakeholder event on anonymisation and pseudonymisation, following the recent CJEU ruling in case C‑413/23 EDPS v. SRB.
At the same time, we call on the EDPB to adopt a participatory format for the event, ensuring a diverse and balanced representation of stakeholders across industries. Such an approach would ensure the sharing of practical use cases and help shape guidance that is workable and future-proof. This format would also reflect the EDPB’s commitment to stakeholder engagement, as outlined in the recent Helsinki Statement.
